I truly believe that deep down we all need to feel like we belong. That we are part of a bigger story through some form of connection: to a person, a shared belief, to the earth.
But let’s face it, life can throw curveballs our way and we get knocked around—whether it’s from other people, difficult situations, or societal expectations that try to squeeze us into boxes.
Sure, we figure out ways to adapt and deal with whatever life throws our way, and we survive; but we can also lose something along the way. I know this struggle firsthand. As a teenager, I completely lost sight of who I was, and it took me a long time to find my way back. I spent too long trying to be like everyone else, when what I really craved was to feel at home in my own skin—to feel connected to myself, the world around me, and the loving folks who got me. Finding my way back to my authentic self has been a long journey; and it’s one I am still on. If you are feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of how to change, you are not alone.
I believe in goal-directed therapy, where you are actively engaged in setting your treatment goals and take ownership in your progress. We will focus on specific issues, bringing clarity so you have the tools and resources to deal with the hard stuff that life throws your way.
Therapy is not always easy, but I will do my best to ensure you feel safe, accepted and understood throughout your journey.
